Awaking Beauty, by Alan Ayckbourn, asks what happens after 'happily ever after…' as Aurora awakens to a life in suburbia and the evil Carabosse discovers true love… or perhaps just true lust.

 

In a production which critics have likened to Sondheim's 'Into the Woods', Awaking Beauty takes a darker look at the well-known fable 'Sleeping Beauty'. As we scratch beneath the surface we discover that all may not be as it seems in the kingdom and explore what happens when an age-old story meets the 21st century. Perhaps the fairytale doesn't have the happy ending we all want to believe in?

 

Yet again, our Senior Musical Theatre group raised their game when presenting the Scottish premier of this unknown diamond in the rough. The cast could really get stuck into their characters and explore what the roles mean to them to get a deeper understanding of the piece.
